A program of ballet miniatures and the premiere of a work based on music by the late composer Giya Kancheli will open Tbilisi Contemporary Ballet’s new season this month, as the troupe sets out to incorporate experiences of lockdown into their new creations.

The partnership between the contemporary dance company and GNM will revolve around the creation of Psalma 1993 work by Kancheli, an internationally renowned composer who died last October.
A preview of the troupe’s season-opening show said the work illustrated a convergence of the artistic work of Kancheli and Giorgi Aleksidze, a choreographer who led the troupe of the State Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi in the 1990s and is known for his work on chamber productions. for the dancers of the state company.
