Ballet Idaho announces lineup for season 21-22

Ballet Idaho Artistic Director Garrett Anderson and Executive Director Laura Mulkey announced Ballet Idaho’s 21-22 season.

After a full season of transitioning the art form to a digital platform experienced exclusively through a screen, Ballet Idaho will return to the physical stage beginning in November 2021, with The Nutcracker!

The full season lineup includes the following performances:

Nutcracker

7 performances from Friday November 6, 2021 to Sunday December 5, 2021.

Our newest production, unveiled in 2019, this beloved holiday classic is back! Join us as we celebrate our return to the stage and the joy of the season in scintillating fashion. Enjoy the playful charm of the mice, the magical transformation of the Nutcracker Prince and the dreamlike adventure that takes Clara to Candy Land. More than 100 children from Ballet Idaho Academy will host the stage along with members of our professional company, live musical accompaniment will be provided by the Boise Phil Orchestra, along with the Opera Idaho Children’s Choir in this annual tradition to be continued. not miss.

The stories we tell

2 performances, one on Friday February 4, 2022 and one on Friday February 5, 2022.

This repertoire performance will include four unique works that emphasize the range and depth of emotions that dance can express.
Serenade by George Balanchine is a timeless display of neo-classical ballet virtuosity wrapped in tulle.
Off screen by Alejandro Cerrudo is a charming nod to classic cinema with fluid, whimsical motion.
An extract of Lar LubovitchThe iconic Concerto 622 by is a sweet duet examining the solace of true human connection. Craig Davidson’s Ghost(Light) is a contemporary ballet feast for the senses exploring light, shadow and the side of theater that audiences are rarely able to see.

Anthology

3 performances, from Friday March 24 to Sunday March 27.

A fascinating investigation of six works, almost all of which will be world premieres. See new works by, Nicole Haskins, Alice Klock and Florian Lochner of FLOCK, and Ballet Idaho Artistic Director Garrett Anderson. We will also present an expansion of Yusha Marie Sorzanoof digital season 20.21 (Yet Not Too Near), a theatrical premiere of a new work by Robyn Mineko-Williams, as well as a screening of For Pixie by Danielle Rowe.

Beauty and the Beast with Peter and the Wolf

3 performances, from Friday March 6th to Sunday March 7th.

The long-awaited performance of Beauty and the Beast by Bruce Well is finally here! Be swept away by the magic of this classic one-act fairy tale, then enjoy the whimsy of act two, which will be the world premiere of Peter and the Wolf by Anne Mueller, Associate Artistic Director of Ballet Idaho, with new sets and costumes and Prokofiev’s famous narrated score.
