‘The Nutcracker’, featuring students and guest artists from the Greenwich Conservatory of Classical Ballet, will be performed at the Westport Country Playhouse, 25 Powers Court on Sunday, December 22 at 4 p.m. and Monday, December 23 at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.
Liudmila Polonskaya, the conservatory’s show director, choreographs this production. Polonskaya is a graduate of Vaganova Ballet Academy, St. Petersburg, Russia, consistently ranked among the top ballet schools in the world. Polonskaya taught for five years at the Vaganova and also obtained her master’s degree in classical ballet pedagogy there.
Production coaches include Natalya Lushina-Zeiger, Inna Yureneva and Gleidson Hoffmann.
The cast includes 10-year-old Connecticut native Lila Doromal, a student at Pierrepont School in Westport, who will be dancing in her debut with Clara.
Nio Hirano, from Greenwich and now a student at the European Ballet School in Amsterdam, and a former student of Ellison Ballet’s professional training program, is the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Kouadio Davis, a graduate of Ellison Ballet’s professional training program and current company member of New York’s Dance Theater of Harlem, is Prince. Davis is an American Youth Grand Prix alumnus, winning first place in 2018 for his pas de deux (Ave Maria with Lola Crist), among other awards and scholarships.
Conservatory soloists and members of the corps de ballet include Alexandre S., Alisa B., Anna D., Anna O, Cecil S., Dagny F., Elijah G., Erin L., Grace K., Hugo L. , Ines S., Jagger L., Jenni B., Julie Y., Kaho M., Kamilla P. , Kate W., Luca S., Lucienne M., Mara K., Martina Sophia P., Maximillian K., Maya G., Maya T., Mili F., Olivia C., One’H., Pia S., Sara N., Seraphima B., Sharon Y. and Waka T.
Tickets, $65 to $25, are on sale on the Greenwich Conservatory website for the Sunday 4 p.m. and Monday 3:30 p.m. shows.
