THE CUBAN CLASSICAL BALLET PRESENTS ITS SPRING GALA “LE CORSAIRE SUITE”

The Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami (CCBM) was founded by Cuban ballet dancer Pedro Pablo Pena with the mission to promote and preserve the repertoire, technique and style of classical ballet, as evidenced by the renowned Cuban School of Ballet . Now under the artistic direction of Eriberto Jimenez, CCBM invites you to the presentation of its spectacular spring gala, “The Corsair Suite”, Saturday June 11 / 8 p.m. at the Miami Dade County Auditorium, featuring the main stars of Cuban ballet, CCBM Ballet Corp, beautiful costumes and sets.

In this classic performance, the CCBM will highlight excerpts from one of the most musical and visually exotic ballets of the 19e century. “Le Corsaire” is a tale of swordsmen, sultans, princesses, maidens and pirates, with a libretto based on the poem The Corsair by Lord Byron. It was first performed by the Ballet de l’Académie Royale de Musique, Paris, France in 1856, originally choreographed by ballet master Joseph Mazilier to the driving music of Adolphe Adam. The ballet has many famous passages that are often performed independently – the Le Jardin Animated scene, the Pas d’Esclave, the Grand Pas de Trois from the Odalisques, and the most famous, the “The Corsair Pas de Deux”, among the most exciting, iconic and most performed pieces of classical ballet. The CCBM has received numerous accolades and excellent reviews from the local and international press.

Saturday, June 11 at Miami Dade County Auditorium.
