There is a group of very enthusiastic young students at ASC this year (seven to nine years old), so the time seemed right to offer them the chance to dance their 1st year exam.

Most students in the upper classes have already taken ballet exams, so they are more experienced. Brontë Hansen danced the Advanced 2 exam, the highest level offered to Imperial Classical Ballet dancers. After this level, a dancer is ready to audition for more professional training or employment in dance companies.

The ISTD is one of the world’s leading international dance examination boards. In 1913, the first program written for the imperial classical ballet was based on the French school of the Paris Opera. Since then, the program has evolved to promote the classical English ballet style and to meet the changing needs of today’s ballet dancers.
