–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sacramento Ballet:
WHAT: Fresh out of its prestigious New York Choreographic Institute invitation, company member and Sacramento Ballet dancer Julia Feldman is a featured choreographer this month presenting her first composition for the main stage, Hearts. It’s one of three stellar and ultra-provocative dance pieces featured in Catalyst (April 14-16): an exhilarating showcase of two world premieres and a Balanchine classic.
“The Sacramento Ballet is incredibly proud of Julia Feldman’s success and we are pleased to showcase her cutting-edge talents in Catalyst this month,” said artistic/executive director Anthony Krutzkamp. “Her work is a double world premiere alongside a highly anticipated creation by choreographic innovator, Jennifer Archibald. We then come full circle with our audience with a legendary classic by George Balanchine. We title this show Catalyst because each piece is a challenge for our dancers – who are at the peak of their sporting season – to give the best of themselves on stage.
Bridging neo-classical and contemporary ballet forms, Hearts is Julia Feldman’s thrilling first choreography on the main stage after being honored to create the New York City Ballet as part of the New York Choreographic Institute.
The contemporary movement is presented in the premiere of To go up by renowned resident choreographer of the Cincinnati Ballet and former Alvin Ailey Choreographic Fellow, Jennifer Archibald.
The emblematic of George Balanchine Allegro Brillante pushes classicism to its limits. He described it as containing everything he knew about classical ballet presented in 13 minutes!
