DOWNTOWN – Contemporary Ballet Ekklesia, a local professional faith-based dance company, will present an original ballet, “Ahavah: The Story of Christmas,” this weekend at Middletown High School at 200 LaRosa Lane.
The performances will take place on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.
“Ahavah” (love in Hebrew) is about “a homeless girl who feels lonely and rejected,” according to a press release. “She discovers a mysterious book, which takes her back in time to the Christmas story. Through her journey, she discovers that she is loved and never alone.
All profits will be donated to Saint-Vincent-de-Paul Middletown, which runs a pantry and supplies other clothing, housewares, furniture and more for those in need.
This show has been taking place on the shore for 15 years, the statement said. Ekklesia has donated over $ 38,000 to Coastal Soup kitchens, and this year the show moved to Middletown, where the company is now based.
