Contemporary East Coast Ballet Performs Mi Vida at Darien Arts Center

The Darien Arts Center welcomes the premier of Mi Vida, the first full-length original ballet of the East Coast Contemporary Ballet. Performances will take place on Friday November 19 and Saturday November 20 at 7:30 p.m. at DAC Weatherstone Studio.

Mi Vida, set in 1950s Cuba, is the interwoven story of six artists whose individual and collective lives are as vivid as the art they create. Entirely to the music of Cuban composer and piano virtuoso Ernesto Lecuona, this original production is as full of passion, conflict, romance and surprises as Lecuona’s compositions. A reception and meetings will follow the show.

East Coast Contemporary Ballet is a non-profit organization that presents ballets that push the physical and artistic boundaries of contemporary dance while utilizing the aesthetics, technique and tradition of classical ballet. ECCB recently performed at the Fairfield County Dance Festival in Weed Beach and previously at the DAC. One of its founders, Claire Mazza is also a DAC dance teacher.

Tickets for Mi Vida ($ 35) are available at darienarts.org. The DAC is located at 2 Renshaw Road, behind City Hall. For questions, call (203) 655-8683.
