Colorado Ballet Nutcracker Returns this holiday season with new sets and costumes

DENVER – November 4, 2021 – Colorado Ballet’s beloved production of Nutcracker will be performed live for the first time in two years with a return to the Ellie Caulkins opera this holiday season. Colorado Ballet 60 Years +1 Special Presentation Nutcracker is presented by PNC Bank and will feature 26 in-person performances from November 27 through December 24 with live music featuring the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

The performances will begin with new sets and costumes created especially for Colorado Ballet by renowned designers Thomas Boyd and Holly Hynes. From embroidered floral details and delicate snowballs of frosted tulle, to hand-painted ornaments and impressive frames, the stunning artistry of Colorado Ballet’s new sets and costumes is not to be missed.

“After 16 wonderful years performing in sets and costumes originally made in 1986, Colorado Ballet is excited to present its own production this year,” said Gil Boggs, Artistic Director. “We are extremely grateful to our brilliant designers Thomas Boyd and Holly Hynes, and our many fantastic set and costume designers across the country, for bringing this spectacular production to life. We can’t wait to share our new Nutcracker with the audience in person at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House this holiday season.

Sold out every year, this magical tale of Clara, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King will feature the same choreography that thrills audiences every season.

This year’s performances of Nutcracker will present five different casts featuring the talented artists of Colorado Ballet.
