Other new releases from the company this season include Tomasson’s “Concerto Grosso,” a showcase for five male dancers that the San Francisco Ballet premiered in 2003, and Marston’s “Concerto Grosso.”Snow guardbased on Edith Wharton’s 1911 short story “Ethan Frome”. London’s Dancing Times described “Snowblind” as a memorable liveliness and “skinny, dramatic rendition.” . . revealed only by movement.
Schreier’s as-yet-untitled new work will premiere in May. This is her third commission for the Atlanta Ballet. “First Impulse” premiered in the 2018–19 season; his “Dances of the Pleiades » was a critical success in the 2019-20 “Silver Linings” performances. Schreier is known for her artful musicianship and contemporary style.
The season is completed with six works from the company’s repertoire, including the playful “Don Quixote“, premiered by Atlanta Ballet in February 2018 and scheduled for March 2023.

Other works from the forthcoming repertoire are Possokhov’s bravura “Classical Symphony”; “Love Fear Loss” by Ricardo Amarante, on songs by Edith Piaf; Ben Stevenson’s “Three Preludes”; Kiyon Ross’ Sum Stravinsky and Balanchine’s “Serenade” in 1935. True to its iconic status, “Serenade” was New York City Ballet’s first ballet presented on September 21, 2021, the company’s first performance since the March 2020 lockdown.
In December, Atlanta Ballet will perform the critically acclaimed high-tech version of “Nutcracker», accompanied by the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra. Atlanta Ballet 2 will present the family production “Beauty and the Beast” in February.
Both complete ballets and at least one work on each mixed bill will be accompanied by live music. All performances will take place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
